NEW ORLEANS TODAY
NBC honors New Orleans as the second most beautiful place in US. New Orleans and the Gulf Coast were featured on NBC’s the Today Show as number two in the top ten most beautiful places in the nation.
This honor is the latest accomplishment in a string of awards bestowed on a post-Katrina New Orleans. It’s no surprise that the New York Times has named New Orleans the “Comeback of the Year” and both Orbitz and Travel + Leisure have chosen it as one of their top destinations for 2007. Perhaps most important, New Orleans now offers travelers a way to celebrate the past and contribute to the future. Many visitors are combining vacation trips to the Big Easy with volunteering in the rebuilding effort in neighborhoods.
The history, the mythology, and the subterranean energy and rhythm that pulses throughout this city is infectious. If anything, New Orleans is a cultural gumbo where its citizens enthusiastically celebrate their differences. And that means just about anything, anywhere, anytime in the Big Easy where “laissez les bons temps rouler" — let the good times roll — still rules. www.maisoindubois.net

NAWLIN'S FLAVOR
Charles Bernard once said, “There is no love sincerer than the love of food.”

Emeril Lagasse, Paul Prudhomme, Susan Spicer, Donald Link and 2006 James Beard winner John Besh have returned to their kitchens. Chefs are celebrities here, their dishes are considered works of art and their restaurants are nothing short of revered. For every culinary passion you can imagine, New Orleans has an inspired menu to match. For more information on our award winning restaurants and their celebrity chefs, click here.

ALL ABOARD!
Take a ride into New Orleans' past. The Saint Charles Ave street railway is the oldest operating streetcar line in the world, carrying passengers through the streets of New Orleans since 1835. The mahogany seats, brass fittings and exposed ceiling light bulbs are from a day when plastic seats and aluminum rails were not even a thought. Rumbling around the ''neutral ground'' of St. Charles and Carrollton avenues for more than 150 years, the streetcar symbolizes the charm and romance of the City of New Orleans. When you come to New Orleans you will have the opportunity to ride the streetcar on Canal Street and St. Charles Avenue routes. And as of this week these newly renovated streetcars are scheduled to go all the way to Napoleon Avenue after a temporary hiatus due to Katrina. Hip hip hoorah!!!!!
